Inside, the 10,830-square-foot retreat is colourful and cosy, with plenty of spaces to curl up with a good book. Though the sum they paid for the property remains a mystery, the couple openly discussed transforming the property from dark and sombre, to beautiful and bright.

For the impressive overhaul, the Hollywood duo played interior designers, browsing magazines for inspiration. They settled on an English country house theme and spent a few months camping out in a small farmhouse on the property while they carried out the renovations. During the project, they created intimate spaces for quiet weekends away, as well as large entertaining zones for family celebrations. In May 1999, the property even featured in Architectural Digest.
