Interior Of The Road

Home of the Week: 11 Wirt St, Leesburg | Entertainment

This elegant Victorian home built in 1890 stands just across Wirt Street from the Leesburg Town Hall, and has undergone major renovations to its interior spaces and finishes. “Old properties are always quirky,” said Eve Weber, a realtor and team lead with real estate group Selling Loudoun. Despite the property’s age, “This is the best one I’ve ever been into in terms of functionality,” she said.

The home offers four bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms and 3,500 square feet of floor space in the heart of downtown Leesburg for slightly less than $1.5 million. Its most recent owners renovated and updated every space, but preserved the home’s original Victorian form and structure, Weber said.

The home’s entire exterior has been recently painted, she added, and now sports an off-white siding on its exterior, with an olive-green front door and shutters, gray roof shingles, white banisters on a front porch beneath a colonnade and a white picket fence wrapping around a brick driveway and front and back yards.

The kitchen features entirely revamped finishes, including soapstone countertops, a large farmhouse sink, white shiplap walls with subway tile accents and stainless-steel appliances. Recessed lights illuminate the space beneath a ceiling finished with wood, and two industrial pendant lights hover above a peninsula on the far end of the kitchen. Near the kitchen, an informal dining space provides access to a back porch.

Hardwood floors run throughout the first floor of the home. And while its kitchen and dining space feature white walls, two family rooms on the main floor sport light gray walls with white wood trim and ceilings. Both family rooms have an elegant fireplace with a white mantle, allowing owners and visitors an opportunity to unwind in comfort during winter months.

A family room with a fireplace in the corner shares a wall with an adjoining study space with purple walls, large bay windows, and yet another fireplace with an elegant white mantle and trim provide a warm, well-lit space for business or study. A powder room on the main floor sports a clean, modern look, thanks to white subway tiles lining the bottom portion of walls painted light gray at the top.

The home’s second floor offers four bedrooms with sandy-colored carpets, white trim on the doors and windows, and walls painted either a clean white, light beige or gray.

There are three bathrooms on this floor, and the one adjoining the owner’s bedroom features bright, light gray tilework spanning the entire floor as well as most of the walls. A curved wall partition here separates the toilet from a soaking tub and adjacent shower, with recessed lights providing crisp ambiance from a white ceiling overhead.

Just beyond a back porch on the main floor, past the dining room, the home’s backyard opens up to a swimming pool with stone and concrete walkway, freestanding shed and wooden fence lined with trees and shrubbery.

Weber said the outgoing owners have been “meticulous about the quality and craftsmanship” of their improvements, making the home “more spectacular than it originally was.” With its location in the heart of downtown Leesburg, buyers won’t be left scrounging for dining, shopping and other community amenities.
